Freshmen Baseball Lives in Idaho

Freshmen Baseball is alive in Idaho after the Meridian school district cut funding for freshmen sports.  It all started with a discussion between Coach Frank Wright, the head coach of the 2011 Idaho 5a State Champions and Tod Rahr, General Manager of the Boise Hawks. After I heard of the situation I then approached Frank Wright and interjected my 2 cents.  That interest grew over several weeks of trying to figure a way to make it happen for the kids.  Frank made a few phone calls to other coaches in the Meridian school district as well as some in the Boise school district to see what their interest were.  That turned into a meeting of a few individuals involved with the baseball community.

Tod Rahr of the Boise Hawks suggested the meeting be held in the clubhouse at the Hawks Stadium.  The meeting had some great proposals on funding, insurances and how to make it a great baseball season for the freshman class.  In the conclusion of the meeting we all some work to do in the future to make it happen and tighten down the specifics.
After a few weeks things began to come together and look as though it might just happen. B A S E B A L L
The 2012 season will begin games on March 10th and run until May 12th.  The teams that are included in the Hawks Freshmen Baseball are Borah, Capital, Centennial, Eagle, Meridian, Mtn. View, Rocky Mtn. and Vallivue.  Each team will play one game at home, one game away and one game at the Boise Hawks Stadium against each opponent.  Giving each team a total of 18 games for the season, not including playoffs and championship game on May 12th.

One of the things that most impressed me was the gratitude from the Boise Hawks organization and the gentlemen involved in putting this together.  Not one of the individuals has a son that will benefit from this program, the benefit lies in the their heart and the love for the game of baseball.

How this site will help the season

This site will be the central location for all things related to the Hawks Freshmen Baseball.  Each team will have its own page under the Teams navigation button, their representative will be responsible for putting their team information on the page.

Those items will be the following:

• Fill in the roster chart with all player information
• Add team picture
• Fill in the three tabs content which are – Coaches information, Field Location and Team Schedule

The other areas of the site will be maintained by Jim Stidham of Creatively Simple Web Design which include the following:

• Home page – A place for general information and the happening going on with the Hawk Freshmen Baseball
• Master Schedule – The schedule for the season for all teams
• Locations – Google map for each field location on the schedule
• Sponsors – A page for our advertiser’s and sponsors of the Hawks Freshmen Baseball
